Not sure what you want to major in? No worries…few do! In fact, 75% of students enter college with “Undecided” as their major. Once enrolled in college, about 80% of students change their major after their first year and quite a few change it again after that. Did you know the average adult switches careers every 5-7 years. What this means: Over time, being flexible and having a love of learning is vastly more important than fretting about those first decisions. How does one learn about the hundreds of majors offered up by colleges? Cool question! I direct all of my students to the super robust ASU website. Check out this sample major, scroll through the classes required for that major, the math intensity of that major, and then, ASU provides a list of jobs… and salaries … associated with that major. Amazing! You can also head over to the Bureau of Labor Statistics to see if those jobs are showing growth or contraction. Gotta love Big Data (sometimes!).
